So, like you said, there is little they can do that they aren’t already doing. Hell, people already get mistaken for being bots and banned. But this circles back to the fact that many real people would be affected by it. Obviously we can’t expect Jagex to have a team of moderators watching every popular spot on every world, so to assume they could catch every bot is preposterous, so we would have to have some sort of algorithm. What criteria would a computer use to automatically detect these bots, and how many people would be mistaken for bots and banned for doing things similar to what these bots do? My comparison for this to RuneScape is skilling and money-making bots. If Konami were to get rid of AFK bots, they’d be walking a fine line with trying not to get rid of slow players, although real people would ultimately be affected. and it isn’t unreasonable to assume that most players don’t have every card and their effects memorized. But where do they draw the limit? Yu-Gi-Oh! is a game with a lot of reading cards to see their effects and what they do, etc. Yes, Konami could probably get rid of them. For those who aren’t in the loop, the game is plagued by AFK bots: bots that are designed to stall out turns in hopes to get their opponents to quit out of boredom. There’s also nothing they, or any other game company can do, to get rid of bots that wouldn’t affect a lot of actual people.Ī comparable, out-of-left-field game is Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel.
